Goodbye to The New Champagne Rooms

This is a tribute to the many nights I have spent with that ladies of the New Champagne Rooms in Seraph City; who had their last night Thursday.

One of the most tasteful and glamourous places on Second Life; the NSR just celebrated their 4 year anniversary and their closing on the same night. I loved dressing up and going to the shows there. Everyone was always friendly, the women were lovely and the hosts were attentive.  I wished as I sat there on the last night that all the people who turned up for the closing had come around a bit more often recently. I also feel that live sound would have gone very far in improving the show, and that a more aggressive marketing strategy might've brought more people into the club. I always felt the place was under utilized; with a lovely ambiance and a balcony and second floor with dancing; the club basically closed after the burlesque show was over. I always wished they would keep a host there and expand  into a dance club after the show. Perhaps these changes might have allowed the club to remain open, but since I am not aware of the circumstances which caused the closure of the establishment, I shouldn't speculate.

The last night was obviously well thought out, with a live performer, a DJ, and invitations going out several days before the event. The club was closed by a "police raid" at the end of the evening. We all ran for the secret exit behind the bookcase, through the basement and into the underground sewer system. The sight of all these well dressed people running down the sewer tunnels had me laughing for quite awhile. the police were somewhat effective and "caught"several people.

I was lucky enough to have my good friend; Kit Guardian with me for conversation; as I had no sound, and I even participated in the "best of Jazz " costume contest and the local chat a fair bit. Dita won the contest (no big surprise, there.) From what I could tell the music was excellent, and everyone had a great time.

I will sorely miss getting dolled up to go there, and most particularly, I will miss watching the talented Subversive Vavoom (otherwise known as Dita) and Annyanka Delphin; the two most talented ladies in the place.  I will miss the balcony most of all, I think; where I've danced beneath the stars.. and I will treasure my maracas forever..
